Biography
Mary Garvey Horst
M.A., L.C.S.W.
Mary’s inner journey toward wholeness, led her (and her husband) in a synchronistic manner to a training by Dr. William Kent Larkin. The previous groundwork laid through her educational pursuits, business experience, and inner process of self-discovery was ignited during the VisioNavigator certification course. Mary and her husband, Ken, left their more traditional (although successful) office practice of Mindbody Therapies becoming a part the staff of the Applied Neuroscience Institute.
Mary has blended the fields of psychotherapy and spirituality for over 16 years as a California licensed therapist (with 13 of those years as a private practice clinician). She holds a Master’s degree in Religious Studies from Loyola University in New Orleans and a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University. In her work as a therapist, she has integrated these two approaches into a process of “inner work” utilizing sandplay therapy, dream exploration, and journal writing. She has trained with two analysts from the C.G. Jung Institute in Los Angeles in the symbolic depth work of the unconscious. Her therapeutic orientation honors the individuation process in which each person, whether male or female, becomes fully his or her authentic Self.
Having been an educator prior to becoming a therapist, Mary combines the forward-moving direction of teacher and life coach with the more receptive skilled ear of the therapist in working with her clients. Add to this, the concrete skills of the Emotional Gym and UpSpiral—a winning combination!
